Devdas - India's most expensive and successful film

"Devdas", Bollywood's Most Expensive and Successful Film "Devdas" by director Sanjay Bhansali, is the most expensive (12 million US dollars) indian film ever made with opulent sets, period costumes and melodious music. Since its release the movie has beaten records. Even after several weeks, the movie tickets are hard to get. The film's original costumes are part of a travelling exhibition, and will be auctioned in London. A whole range of "Devdas" brand products are launched in the market. The film is an adaptation of the novel written in 1901 by Sarat Chander Chatterjee. The coveted role is played by the leading Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan as well as former Miss World Aishwarya Rai. Picture shows a rare hand painted billboard of "Devdas", painted by artist Vaidya in central Bombay.
